It's a hugely exciting but quite scary prospect that what was just an idea about three years ago has blossomed into a potentially essential tool in helping to market and sustain tourism in rural communities throughout parts of Argyll.

I have run a successul web development business for 7 years, delivered successful tourism websites for over 5 years, on top of that lead the organisation, development and delivery of 8 seafood festivals with the generosity of Nick Nairn, Colin Bussey and Cyrus Todiwala to fantastic public acclaim. Who better and more experienced to take on such a big project!

The clues have always been there, Loch Fyne has such a powerful name in modern business through a number of associated products, there are restaurants named after the region, even local businesses adopt the Loch Fyne and Fyne name as part of their trading names. The fishing industry and tourism industry during the steamboat era provide centuries of intrigue and history behind the modern commerce which show there is much more to the region than at first glance.

Im also consciously aware of existing successful Loch Fyne brands in the marketplace and understand the necessity to protect and embrace them during development and delivery of a project of this scale and scope, I am commited to doing just that. A synchronised and cleverly delivered enterprise model can have a measurable positive impact on business, improve regional social standards including employment, and increase consumer sales. Brand loyalty is essential in todays market and Im convinced working together can increase brand loyalty with a high level of sustained business without detriment.

Never before has such a unique group businesses provided a powerful and reacognisable iconic worldwide brand. For small rural businesses, craftsmen and women, and for the regional hospitality industry - even during the current low international growth rate, government cost reduction exercise, and high debt society - it has huge potential to transform business and stimulate significant economic activity.

A number of strategies, timelines, blueprints, organisations and initiatives are being developed dynamically along with the destination to it's future launch. There is much to be excited about even during these uncertain times, and I hope that you'll embrace our work and contribute to what could be another success in the history of Loch Fyne.

Best Wishes

The Managing Director, Destination Loch Fyne Ltd
